In 2016, Rotary developed a program called ‘WASH in Schools Target Challenge’ to encourage clubs to build sustainable WASH and school education projects. The pilot was launched in five countries, including India.
They have provided hygiene and maintenance training and installed 28 bore wells, 16 community bathing stalls, and 450 toilets in personal homes. By supporting over 4000 Rotary clubs, Rotary is on its path to undertaking WASH in Schools in 1,50,000 schools by 2025.
Rotary supports activities and training to improve maternal health and reduce mortality for children under five. Projects strengthen the healthcare system by improving access to and expanding medical services, providing medical equipment, and training healthcare personnel.
