Disease Prevention And Treatment
Rotary, as a global organization, has established a robust healthcare network that unites doctors, patients, volunteers, and governments. This network is dedicated to enhancing healthcare accessibility for all age groups. The Rotary Foundation India (RF) is a key player in this endeavor, tackling both communicable and non-communicable diseases through various grassroots initiatives. These initiatives, from raising awareness about prevalent diseases in underserved communities to establishing clinics and organizing blood donation camps, have significantly improved India’s healthcare landscape. By providing medical equipment and training facilities to hospitals, the foundation has been a driving force in meeting India’s diverse health needs.
Rotary’s support extends to activities that mitigate the causes and effects of diseases. These projects are designed to fortify the healthcare system by enhancing access to medical services, expanding their reach, providing medical equipment, and training healthcare personnel. This collaborative approach is a testament to Rotary’s commitment to improving healthcare globally.

Rotary Balasore Eye Hospital provides accessible and affordable eye care to needy people. The eye hospital is already operational, and the equipment proposed to be added will augment better investigation procedures and provide low-cost IOL surgeries aimed at eradication of blindness.

Medical Equipment for Gomabai Netralaya Hospital
Implemented by: Rotary International Foundation
Location: Madhya Pradesh
Gomabai Netralaya Hospital specializes in Total Eye Care, specializing in Cataract, Glaucoma, Retina, Cornea, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Lasix Laser and Eye Bank. Most of these services are accessible to the public. We would like to purchase a Fundus camera for their use. Fundus photographs are ocular documentation that records the appearance of a patient’s retina. Optometrists, Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, and other trained medical professionals use Fundus photography to monitor the progression of certain eye conditions/diseases like Glaucoma, Diabetic retinopathy, Optic atrophy, Papilledema, Cancer of the Eye, Retinoblastoma, Color vision deficiencies, etc. The addition of this Topcon Retinal camera will help better diagnose eye problems and enhance the patient care of almost all patients.

Augmentation Of Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease Care Centre
Implemented by: Rotary Club of Nagpur North
Location: Nagpur
Under the subject project, we plan to augment the Dr. Vinky Rughwani Child Care Centre and Hospital, run under THALASSEMIA SOCIETY OF CENTRAL INDIA. This center offers free treatment to patients suffering from Thalassemia & Sickle cell disease. The subject center has 200 registered patients with Thalassemia Major and 188 Sickle Cell disease patients in this center. These patients are regularly treated at the center and get admitted whenever required. They are given free blood transfusions at the center. Also the necessary disposables for transfusion for patients are provided free of cost. Most patients are getting free medicines like iron chelators, hydroxyurea, etc., at this center. These patients frequently need blood investigations, which in most patients are done for free. Thalassemia Society of Central India is a Non Non-profit, Non Governmental organization established in 2006 & is run on the donations collected from the general public at large & with the support of NGOs. The Rotary Club of Nagpur North has been associated with this Centre for more than ten years and has conducted Blood Donation Camps. It was brought to our knowledge that the center needs a Cell Counter, Furniture, and an Ambulance to provide better treatment to needy patients. Hence, this project was planned.
