Shekhar Mehta, member of the Rotary Club of Calcutta held the prestigious role of Rotary International President for 2021-22. Serving as the 111th president, he is the fourth Indian to hold this position. Leading nearly I .75 lakh Rotary members, his focus for the year is to empower girls globally by providing access to education.

My journey with Rotary began in 1998, and over the past 25 years, it has been a source of heartwarming memories. Through serving the community, we have not only impacted lives but also made some great friends. For me, the camaraderie among Rotarians will always be the highlight for me. Moreover, my role as the District Governor brought life-changing experiences. One standout moment was Rotary Day 2021. Through our health camps, we positively impacted over 50,000 individuals and it truly reaffirmed the ‘power of membership’ and promise of unity. Being an active participant within Rotary District 3232 has been humbling experience. We believe that embracing innovative club formats is pivotal to sustaining membership and engagement. Within our district, a diverse range of clubs exist, each with its distinctive focus. Some examples are clubs dedicated to causes such as organ donation specialized groups like RC Chennai.
