About the Project: The Rotary Moodbidri Dialysis Centre was established to provide essential dialysis services for chronic kidney patients in Moodbidri and the surrounding taluks. A community assessment had revealed that 50–60 economically disadvantaged patients required regular dialysis but faced significant challenges due to the absence of government-run facilities in the region.

Previously, patients had to travel 2–3 hours to Mangalore for dialysis, incurring high treatment costs (around ₹2000 per session) along with travel expenses, time loss, and physical exhaustion. With no possibility of expanding government hospital services, the Rotary Club took the initiative to bridge this gap, ensuring affordable and accessible dialysis treatment as part of its commitment to community healthcare support.

With the establishment of the Rotary Moodbidri Dialysis Centre, the project:

  • Provided essential dialysis services to local patients, reducing travel burdens and treatment costs.
  • Ensured high-quality care with qualified nephrologists, trained nurses, and emergency medical support.
  • Improved health outcomes and enhanced the quality of life for patients requiring frequent dialysis (2–3 times per week).

The Rotary Moodbidri Dialysis Centre has had a transformative impact on the community, offering sustainable and life-saving treatment for kidney patients. By eliminating barriers to healthcare access, the project successfully enhanced medical support and reduced the financial strain on those in need.
