Implemented by: Rotary Club of Tripoli

Location: Rajasthan

Rotary constructed seven check dams in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, to conserve rainwater and increase the water table. This initiative provided the local community with year-round access to drinking and irrigation water, benefiting villagers and livestock. The project recharged groundwater, improved borewell water levels, and ensured water availability for cash crops, enabling two cultivation cycles per year. It generated local employment during construction and increased vegetative cover, providing fodder for livestock. Additionally, the project enhanced hygiene and sanitation, reduced diseases, offered vocational opportunities for women, boosted primary school attendance, improved rural incomes and lifestyles, reversed rural migration, and enhanced the health and productivity of livestock.
