About the Project: The Augmentation of Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease Care Centre project was initiated to enhance healthcare services for patients suffering from Thalassemia Major and Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) at Dr. Vinky Rughwani Child Care Centre and Hospital, managed by the Thalassemia Society of Central India. This non-profit, non-governmental organization, established in 2006, provides free treatment, medicines, and blood transfusions to affected individuals.

The centre currently serves 200 registered Thalassemia Major patients and 188 Sickle Cell Disease patients, offering regular treatment, free transfusions, essential medications, and diagnostic investigations. Due to the high financial burden of managing these conditions, this project was planned to strengthen the centre’s medical capabilities and improve patient care.

The Rotary Club of Nagpur North, which has been associated with this centre for over 10 years, has supported the initiative by conducting blood donation camps and assisting in resource mobilization. Recognizing the urgent need for better infrastructure, this project focuses on procuring a Cell Counter, essential furniture, and an ambulance to enhance medical care for Thalassemia and SCD patients.

By expanding medical facilities, ensuring access to life-saving treatments, and reducing financial stress on patients and families, this initiative reinforces the commitment to improving the quality of life for individuals battling these lifelong blood disorders. Through continued community support and strategic healthcare improvements, the project aims to create sustainable and accessible treatment solutions for affected patients.
