The Dr. Vinky Rughwani Child Care Centre and Hospital, operated by the Thalassemia Society of Central India, has provided free treatment to patients with Thalassemia Major and Sickle Cell Disease. With 200 registered Thalassemia patients and 188 Sickle Cell patients, the center has consistently delivered essential services, including free blood transfusions, ...
necessary disposables, and medications such as iron chelators and hydroxyurea. Frequent blood investigations were conducted at no cost for most patients, ensuring comprehensive and uninterrupted care.
Established in 2006, the Thalassemia Society of Central India has operated as a non-profit, non-governmental organization sustained by public donations and support from NGOs. The Rotary Club of Nagpur North has long supported the center, organizing blood donation camps for over a decade. To enhance its capacity for patient care, the center successfully acquired a Cell Counter, furniture, and an ambulance through this project. These additions significantly improved its ability to deliver life-saving services to underserved patients. This initiative reaffirmed the center’s commitment to providing critical support to individuals affected by Thalassemia Major and Sickle Cell Disease, further strengthening its role as a vital healthcare provider in the region.
